New Roomie

So I guess there's a new roommate, besides Katlynn and I.

But I think we'll get along just fine.

He's brown, 8 weeks old and absolutely adorable.

And his name is Beau

Reason for blog...

So despite a normal appearance, I find my life contains plenty of drama and craziness. And this point is no different. I'm finding that as I get ready to finish my Associate's, transfer to a University and work on a double major, part-time. Growing up is not something that ever truly stops happening. I'm getting my associate's, moving out of my parent's house and job hunting all at once.

After finding the perfect apartment, which I was too scared to tell my parents about, which was reminiscent of coloring on the walls and trying to cover it up with a picture, I re-learned that secrets, despite what may be commonly believed, don't get better with time. And that even though it would've been really hard, even scary, I should've just told them. Like ripping off a band-aid, it always hurts more when it goes slow. Always. Just rip it off and get it over with.

They had the predictable and same concern that I did, how to pay for an apartment (even a subsidized, affordable unit) without a good, full-time job. To my complete, yet happy surprise after telling them and noticing that pain in the pit of my stomach had returned, I had a new email from a potential employer. So after freaking out daily for the last two weeks and hearing plenty of people reassure me that it would all turn out ok in the end, it turns out those that are older, wiser and more optimistic, may actually be right. More evidence that I am in a perpetual state marked by adolescence and inexperience. But it's ok. Because I've always believed that experience is the greatest teacher and that growing up is hard, but it's fun and it's worth it, and not to state the obvious, it's necessary.

There are plenty of moments of my life that if I could go back and change something I would, after over-analyzing them but I always eventually come to the same conclusion: even though these moments are there, they're never going to go away. They're there to serve as reminders for how to carry yourself and how to appreciate life's embarrassing, awkward and completely necessary growing up moments. But I would really like to take this time to say that I'm sorry, proud and grateful to my parents for everything they have done for me despite everything I've put them through. Maybe it's because Mother's Day is coming up, but I really think that it needs to be said. It's needed to be said everyday for the last 21 years. If it weren't for my parents and everything they've given me, I would have nothing, and if there was ever a time that I needed them and had all the evidence to be thankful for them and everything I have, it's now.
